Heise Verlag has generously decided to make my two articles
that appeared in c't 05/2002 available on-line:
- Den Ausweis bitte
Sicherer Zugang zum LAN via Virtual Private Network
http://www.heise.de/ct/02/05/216/
- Eigener Schlüsseldienst
VPNs und Zertifikate im Eigenbau
http://www.heise.de/ct/02/05/220/
The articles describe how Windows roadwarriors using either the
SSH Sentinel VPN client or the built-in Windows 2000 / Windows XP
IPsec stack via Marcus Mueller's ipsec tool can set up tunnel
connections to a Linux FreeS/WAN gateway securing a company network.
Since mutual authentication is based on X.509 certificates,
instructions on how to generate CA and user/host certificates
using OpenSSL are included.
Both articles are in German but an English version is to follow.
Cheers
Andreas
