The Freeswan FAQ contains an item about "virtual identities".
Certain Windows VPN clients support this feature whereby a VPN client can
be configured to use a private network IP address to make it look like it
belongs in the peer's protected network.
I studied the FAQ but the iproute2 commands (especially the "ip rule"
command) always prints "RTNETLINK answered: invalid argument" on my
Mandrake8.1 system with Freeswan-1.96.
The answer from the FAQ seems to be to create an aliased interface and in my
case, I would need to create an aliased ppp interface (or ipsec interface?)
and give that alias the private network address and then set up routing
rules for it.
Is there any new info / updates / improvements about this issue?
Thank you.
