In case you want to access domain information you have to use either
WINS (as Wim Kerkhoff said) or lmhosts. For Active Directory stuff on
the client you have to use the DNS-Server of the place hosting active
directory.
Its also a good idea to use the vpn-gateway as the default route, not
just simply add a static route to the win-client.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I often have the problem that I can mount any remote win-share directly
on the vpn-gateway (mount -t smbfs ..) but not on the attached
win-clients. 'Regular' TCP/IP-stuff like http, ftp, icmp is normally
working fine, but no domain things (logon, drive-mappings), even if I
forward everything between the vpn-connected lans. So its perhaps a good
idea to also try this as well. Perhaps anybody has a hint for this?
