[Users] kernel log messages

Hi,

I'm messing around with my own copy of spi, trying various parameter
combinations and stepping through the code with a debugger. I sent in
some bogus keys (--enckey and --authkey) and saw

Invalid argument, check kernel log messages for specifics.

which didn't surprise me, but I'm not finding the kernel log messages.
Nothing in /var/log/messages, /proc/sys/net/ipsec/* looks promising,
but everything I cat only prints a '0'.

Where should I look for the specifics?

Thanks,
Steve
