RE: [Users] Virus in Mailinglist

Interesting, since my section of the email (the part about MS engineers, my
idea of humor) was placed within this reply I will send back my thoughts on
the subject:

If you use a computer that has windows they come from an OEM (most of them)
they should have anti virus software. If this person owns a computer and is
uninformed on how to click a button to update the virus definitions and does
not know about how dangerous the WWW is then I say survival of the fittest.
When their system goes bonk they will learn by hard knocks! I feel this is a
more effective learning tool for most computer users anyway, it encourages
RTFM or some type of research on their behalf. Sorry to be so cruel to the
unlearned computer user but we all had to learn and most of us have done
this without the help of auto warnings.
Then I have to ad this statement some of these viruses are sent my people
who know what they are doing and their goal is nothing more than throwing a
wrench in the gears... To sit back and laugh about the trouble they have
created to the list and others. Just look at the addresses they are
generated from... would you use an address that has characters most people
do not know how to type? ie: Ao3a?o
So in conclusion I agree that the virus warnings are totally useless on
many fronts, furthermore Nate is ABSOLUTELY correct the current generation
of virii have mailers and forge the return address! SO with that in mind the
notices are nothing more than worthless TCP traffic to the list. Along with
my 2 cents here :^)

end of rant...

James
