You have to remember, the people running this mailing list aren't making
any money off it. It takes a fair amount of hardware to run a mailing
list, and it takes _far_ more to run every single message through a virus
scanner. Plus, there's the price of the scanning engine to start with.

So, since you're complaining, are you volunteering to fork out the cash to
make it happen?

If this was a mailing list for a commercial product, run by the vendor,
I'd also complain -- but since it's not, I'm keeping my mouth shut, and
making good use of the 'D' key on my keyboard. If it really irritates you,
just write a procmail rule to filter the alerts out, and stop e-mailing
virus notifications to your ISP.
