I don't understand how you can claim that virus checking is the
responsibility of a mailinglist manager. Almost no lists do this (if
this is not the case for you, I can't imagine what lists you are
subscribed to). A free-to-join and non-profit community mailinglist is a
forum inteded to facilitate group dicussion. I've never heard a
suggestion such as this before, and I'm astounded by it.

(Note: I'm subscribed to at lesat 50 mailinglists, and as far as I know,
none of them has any virus checking capabilitie.)

If you are using a broken mailer that is vulnerable to E-Mail viruses,
perhaps you should switch E-Mail client?
