I've been using it with reasonable success as a Linux client to a
third-party VPN gateway. We use the X.509 patch and digital certs for
key exchange and user authentication. The client initiates the tunnels
when it needs to access the protected networks. Other than the
occasional tunnel breakdown, it works fine - John
