Er, as I said, it is 1600 bytes. Here's what I see on eth0 when I do

> ping -t -l 1600

from a windows box to a Linux box with FreeS/WAN :-

  11:04:56.875524 windows > linux: ESP(spi=0xa9285c11,seq=0x3e) (frag 5197:1480_at_0+)
  11:04:56.875530 windows > linux: (frag 5197:180_at_1480)
  11:04:56.877088 linux > windows: ESP(spi=0x798ce67d,seq=0x3e) (frag 42647:1480_at_0+)
  11:04:56.877108 linux > windows: (frag 42647:180_at_1480)

Here's what I see on ipsec0 :-

11:04:56.875530 windows > linux: icmp: echo request
11:04:56.876411 linux > windows: icmp: echo reply
