OK, I am now a small step further - the VPN connection does forward the
GRE tunnel correctly, that is, data from the central site is sent to the
remote site, received and replied to ... the only problem no seems to
be, that the LinkSys Router doesn't seem to send it back correctly
through the VPN tunnel ... this is what arrives at the remote side:

5d23h: IP: s=192.168.127.113 (Tunnel1), d=192.168.4.1, len 100, rcvd 7
5d23h: IP: s=192.168.3.1 (Tunnel1), d=192.168.2.1 (Ethernet0), len 120,
sending

A tcpdump on ipsec0 on the FreeSWan only lists the outgoing ICMP echo
req, but doesn't see anything else ...
Is there anything I could have configured incorrectly on the LinkSys
router? I have 192.168.3.0/24 defined as local secure group,
192.168.2.0/24 as remote secure group ...

Any idea?

tnx, -gg
