[Users] asynchronous network error: Message too large

Hello

I'm trying to set up a VPN connection with FreeS/WAN. The connection
works fine with direct LAN connection. But if I route the connection via
some routers I get errors from different routers (i.e. Cisco WAN
Routers and Zyxel Prestige ADSL routers). The error message looks like this:

Aug 2 13:39:27 knuth pluto[13283]: ERROR: asynchronous network error
report on eth0 for message to <remote_peer> port 500, complainant <a
router between>: Message too long [errno 90, origin ICMP type 3 code 4
(not authenticated)]

Does anybody know what this error exactly means or how I could fix this?

Thank you
Marco
