  You cannot do that. This has nothing to do with FreeS/WAN; is an aspect
of the way IP works. A gateway has to be reachable in order to route
packets to the networks it is providing routes to; if you could already
reach those networks, you would not need the gateway.

  I would recommend obtaining a copy of "TCP/IP Network Administration"
(by Craig Hunt, published by O'Reilly), or some other documentation on IP
fundamentals.
