No I don't, the paper doesn't tell anything about any patch so I thought it was another way to build connections with certificates without patching the code.
Where can I find a good tutorial, or documentation about the x509 patch?

You appear to be trying to use x509 certs as RSA Sig keys... are you
running a version of FreeS/WAN w/X.509 support
