Hi!
I'm dealing with a similar problem, at least I also have the message
"Possible authentication failure: no acceptable response to our first
encrypted message".
Here follows the output of the "ipsec auto --up hom-bart" command:

010 "hom-bart" #63: STATE_MAIN_I3: retransmission; will wait 40s for
response
031 "hom-bart" #63: max number of retransmissions (2) reached
