Hi Julio,
Am not using ipchains, because if I do
ipchains -L it returns
*ipchains: Incompatible with this kernel*
thought I was, as I saw the firewall-standalone file in /etc/ppp/
I got the idea of aliasing from the article on iproute2 and freeswan, as
it seems to be the best solution to my problem.
http://www.quintillion.com/moat/ipsec+routing/iproute2.html
maybe am doing something wrong here.
Have got RedHat 7.2 with the 2.4.18-18.7.x kernel.
Thanks for the information on iptables, have successfully saved the udp
port 500 rule.
Unfortunately with the iproute2 option the alias IP for the ppp device
does not show in ifconfig -a, but does show in `ip addr`
I need to alias to a static IP which will then be use for the tunnel, am
open to any ideas.
Is there anyone who has done this using ppp0 ??
Have written to Joe Denker the author of the iproute2 article above,
hope that I get a reply.
Look forward to hearing from you after your holiday.
Regards
Shyamal
